Apostille

An Apostille is an international certification system provided under the Hague Convention to verify the authenticity and legality of public documents for use abroad. Apostilles are typically issued by a government agency or recognized authority in the issuing country and involve notarizing the document and affixing a certification stamp or label in a specific format.

The main purpose of an Apostille is to simplify the cross-border document legalization process, enabling documents issued by one country to be recognized and accepted in another member country of the Hague Convention. For example, when engaging in activities such as international marriage registration, studying abroad, immigration applications, or international business, public documents with an Apostille may be required to prove their authenticity and legality.

To obtain an Apostille, public documents usually need to be submitted to the relevant government agency or recognized authority in the issuing country. The authority will then notarize the document and affix the Apostille stamp or label. Once the Apostille is obtained, the document can be recognized and accepted in Hague Convention member countries without needing further legalization or certification processes.

Currently, China has joined the Hague Convention. Therefore, all Indonesian documents used in China only need to undergo Apostille certification. Queen Law Firm has assisted numerous Chinese companies and individuals in obtaining Apostille certification.
